A non US Citizen who has a Foreign Type Rating or Training (non typed co-pilot) in an A/C over 12,500 lbs must complete a Department of Justice Back Ground Check which is applied for by the Ground/Flight Instructor via the DOJ web site prior to starting training. We are a DOJ Preferred Provider and can submit the paper work to the DOJ for approval.
A non USA applicant must fill out the FAA Verification of Pilot & Medical Certificate if he/she wishes to add a Type Rating to his/her US License which is based on the Foreign License. A non USA Applicant must also pass the long FAA Written Test for Instrument-Pilot. Then receive ground and flight training and pass the Oral/Flight Check per the FAR’s and the Instrument Pilot PTS, ATP PTS. Plus get the DOJ Background Check. Complicated for non USA applicants---but not impossible. The best place to start is at https://www.flightschoolcandidates.gov/.
